I just purchased the Recuva Pro file, downloaded the mac version and when I click to open the .exe file, it opens a window that is unusable. Any suggestions?
My Recuva download opens to a window of nonsense.
Video files on CF card. Scan finds files and ignores?
I have a CF card that has video and stills files from a project shot yesterday. I cannot access the files, and when I run Recuva on a Windows system, the scan window shows files being found, but when the scan is complete, there are no items listed at the end and the scan says that the files "Found" during the scan have been ignored. I have used the wizard to set the scan to look only for video files. Anyone have an idea as to why I can't see these files that have been "Found"?
Current Progress over 100%
(I don't use it much so I can't say this is a new issue)
I tried scanning my iPod for files and the progress meter says:
Current Progress: 8589894%
Estimated Time Left: 36 days
It eventually comes down to a normal value and completes the scan.
Just an FYI.
Recovering photos from SD card cannot be view at all
Hi - ive tried recuva on a 64gb SD card that i recovered to my HDD and while i have over a 1000 photos of all different appropriate sizes, i am unable to view any of them. It seems like a straighforward process that has completely failed. I ran the deep scan and it found nearly everything using the startup wizard, it all seems quite straightforward, however i am no closer to recovering my photos. Is there a chance i might have missed a setting option?
Paid Version x Free Version
Is there any difference from the paid version from free version? I am trying to recover an extremly important file I've deleted by mistake but the free software is saying it can't be recovered (red flag).
I can buy the software it the developers guaantee I can really recovery this file...
"Device not ready" - cannot complete recovery of pic files
See attached. It looks as if I have plucked over a thousand pictures from my troubled hard drive. so close... What is wrong? I highlight the files and I right click and I ask it to recover the highlighteed files. And it tells me my device is not ready... It's frustrating. This deep scan required hours to complete. Is this just an operator error?
Appreciate any helpful advice. I've been at this for quite a while now. I'm afraid I may have to start over if I make the wrong move.
Can't Scan My Galaxy S4 For Deleted Files

recovering 3gp file from mobile phone memory or sd card
I wanna recover 3gp files from my previous sd card and current mobile phone. There are a few questions I wanna ask:
1. I found that the searching criteria of video format in recuva do not include 3gp, then how can I scan those deleted 3gp files?
2. I want to recover 3gp files from my previous micro-sd card but I lost the card already. Before I lost the card, I copy the content of the whole miicro card to the desktop. Can I scan and recover those deleted 3gp files from the copied folder?
3. The software cannot detect my mobile device. I can access the drive through my laptop, but it is not on the list of recuva scanning process. How do I scan my phone using recuva?
Thank you for your kind help.
Invalid image
I am very much a 'newbie' to this forum and although 83 years old fairly computer savvy. At the last automatic update of Windows 10, Microsoft deliberately removed my Speccy program, and at the same time, said Speccy would no longer work on Win10. At the same time I 'lost' my Picasa photo manager program containing many years of hard work putting the collection together. In an attempt to recover these I came across the Piriform website and have found an absolute wizard offer of Recuva pro and Speccy pro. Speccy has been downloaded and works beautifully (ba humbug MS) and Recuva has discovered my missing Picasa photos (I think). However following the 'Recovery' option I am quite unable to open these as they all give me an 'Invalid Image' splash message. I have tried with Picasa's own program, Windows Photo Viewer etc., but no joy. Should I be using a separate dedicated program for this - or please can anyone help me to proceed to full restoration? I am specifically referring to .jpg or .jpeg digital photos. Lillybry
Lost pics on micro sd card
I have an 8GB micro SD card with A LOT of the family photos and movies on it. Upon plugging it into the laptop to ad more, It asked to format it. Knowing better, I did not and started researching, and many programs and such later it has gone RAW. I found recuva along the way (trusted more then the others out there).
But here's my problem, when I click scan a error report pops up. It states "Failed to scan the following drives: E:: Invalid drive size"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
video using recuva stops playing halfway
So this is what happened
I updated to windows 10
- after the update i notice ALL my files were gone, i go into panic and search google
- some guys said the files are in the window.old folders
- so i go there , i think i didnt find it there BUT i did think i find them in os©-users-myname
- i then begin to cut and paste everything but my pictures to the NEW documents, videos, downloads folders
- so after all of that i begin to use like normal and shut down my laptop
- i then reopen my laptop to find my old wallpaper is back, a message from windows saying my old files are back etc
- i then go to my files and realize EVERYTHING was gone except for the files i DID NOT cut and paste
- i then download recuva, go back to windows 8 and success, my files are there after i use recuva and i recover them, most of them work fully, though some dont , and some videos stop playing after halfway
was wondering why it doesnt work fully and how to fix this, thanks
Stuck in stage 1 of 3
Hi!
I'm trying to salvage what I can from an HDD that malfunctioned. I'm still not sure it's a hardware issue, but I'm trying to find out. When doing a deep scan Recuva hangs indefinitely at 1% of phase 1 (411133 files found). The problem might be it hit a bad sector and can't go forward. Is there any way to force Recuva to skip that sector and move on?
Thanks!

Do not save files with your path
First, my English is very basic. I deleted the folder of work, with a lot of word, excel, pdf, etc. and the good part is that I have recovered, the bad part is that the files are retrieved one by one. I mean, the program tells me the patch, but there would be a way for those files (nearly a thousand) are stored in folders and subfolders because it will have a Chinese work. I repeat that the program tells me the path where to find the file, but why can not keep creating those folders and subfolders?
Deep scan recovered four big FLV files
Recuva Video File Conversion?
Does anyone know if Recuva could misinterpret video compression during the recovery process and mislabel video files? In this case video files were changed from MPEG-4 to WMV.
Background information-
We have an SD card that was used in a stealth camera. The camera has been tested and saves video onto the SD card in a MPEG4 format. The files were deleted from the SD card. Using Recuva we were able to retrieve the video files that had been deleted however, now they are WMV files.
Our timestamps indicate that the recovered files are the files of interest and no other cameras or options exist at this point to explain how the MPEG-4 deleted files have magically turned into WMV files during the recovery process.
Has anyone else ran into this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

SD card says needs to be formatted.
Hello. I have a 32gb PNY SD card from a video camera. I was transferring the videos to a computer using a card reader and some sort of error occured during transfer. Only a few of the videos were transferred and when I put the card into either the computer or the camera itself it says needs to be formatted (which I have not done). I have tried Recuva and get an error Unable to Determine File System Type. Windows does assign a drive letter but if I select it from file explorer I get a pop up that says Card needs to be Formatted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

File are shown excellent but not recovered at all
Hi
I created a image file .dd with DataRescueDD then I mounted with OSFMount and checked with Recuva to search files.
Recuva shows the list of all the file with their size. I tried to save different files listed as Excellent on another real disk but no file is saved/recovered always the report says no file recovered whatever the size or the destination chosen.
Any tips where to look for a solution?
Thanks
Completed Scan after 17 hours!
About a week ago, I went to do a simple task and format a flash drive. I got suspicious when it was taking longer than expected for a flash drive to format. By then, it was too late, of course. Instead, I accidentally formatted my Western Digital HDD 2TB external drive, with mostly all my back up on it. I am devastated. It was a week before I thought to use Recuva to recover the files. The first two tries failed but at the third try, it finally completed scanning after 17 hours. When I went to recover the files, I did not realize I needed a drive with enough space to restore the files. I only had one other drive available and there was not enough free space on it. No problem. There were files on that drive I could delete to make room for the Recuva restored files. BUT.... I kept having those pesky, "you don't have permission" messages. I hate that message. I'm the owner. I'm the sole user. This message always stumps me. I thought that switching to the Administrator log-in would solve the permission messages. I logged off my regular sign-in account. Something told me that was the thing to do.
Here is my dilemma. I never signed into the Administrator account. After I selected to switch users and the log in screen appeared, I signed-in immediately back to my regular account. The Recuva screen was gone. I've tried to find any completed scans from Recuva. Does Recuva not keep completed scans? I've used mac recovery software, for example, and they have a selection to review completed scans. Is the completed Recuva scan just gone? I can't believe it would just disappear and leave no trace of a completed scan. I've googled every kind of way to describe my problem. Evidently, no one ever did what I did! Or my computer is messed up. There has to be a trace of the scan somewhere on my machine.
Does anyone know where I can find the scan on my computer or instruct me how to recall it up? Please, I would be so grateful if someone could help me. What a way to start the new year!
Thanks for your time and consideration reading this over.
Thanks,
Joe
Progress not advancing
Hi there,
I have a WD My Passport 1TB which stopped working. Every time I plug it in, Windows 10 want's me to format the disk.
When I try to run Recuva in order to restore the files, I get 1 file can be restored after a few minutes, but the time calculated to the finish, doesn't show up. It keeps showing "calculating time...."
Is this normal? How long should I leave it running before I shut it off?
I don't want to burn the disk or anything like that....
Help please!!
